Hatchet 3 is Hatchet's horror film of 2013. It follows the story of Victor Crowley's ongoing adventures and his rampage across Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp. Kane Hodder plays Victor Crowley and Brian Quinn is Deputy Winslow. Rileah Vanderbilt plays Misty.
Its utilization of special effects is the primary strength of this movie. Hatchet 3 is a horror movie that uses CG effects in a lesser degree than others. Hatchet 3 has a number of makeup effects that are practical and sets that result in some really horrific scenes in the movie.
Kane Hodder is a standout in the ensemble, and he's an intimidating villain. The dialogue feels like a 1980s slasher movie. It is witty and funny enough. Additionally, there are several hilarious moments throughout that offer some humor in the midst of the terrifying action.
Unfortunately, the film's budget was limited to $1 million. That means many locations featured in the film are repeated from previous films. A boat house is used twice, and the majority of the scenes feel like they're recycled from previous films. For those who have watched Hatchet or Hatchet 2, this could make the film feel familiar.
Overall, Hatchet 3 was a excellent series. There were many gory moments and some great performances from the (blog) actors.
